About Midooni
Hello. I'm Saghi. I'm the founder of Midooni.org. If you can't pronounce my name, no worries, I go by Sasha. I was raised in Iran after the 1979 revolution and moved to the USA in the 1990s.
Founded in August 2017, Midooni is created to provide social commentary, educational and inspirational content to help us all remember our great thinkers and philosophers such as Avicenna, Suhrewardi, Attar and Rumi. We are planning on introducing these beautiful teachings in a creative, accessible and approachable way to increase our knowledge and awareness.
First and foremost, I must say that I am no scholar, though I am very passionate about the inner mystical dimension of Islam, referred to as Sufism. I also find philosophy (falsafeh) fascinating. Therefore, we invite all knowledgeable philosophers, progressive thinkers and mystics, and anyone who wants to further understand and learn about these subjects to join us. The goal of this site is not achievable without the contribution of all of you who are interested in returning Iran to an environment where open and intelligent discussions around philosophy and mystic teachings are prevalent and welcomed. We will also aim to, with your help and feedback, discuss Iranian history as it relates to the understanding of the self.
I look forward to working with all of you who are interested to accompanying me on this journey of self-discovery. I have a dream that one day we will move away from the current rigid and extremist atmosphere in Iran to one that is open to diversity of opinions and thoughts. But we will never achieve that without increasing our knowledge and working together toward that goal.
